&so is a collective of independent creatives whose diverse contribution to electronic music spans decades of experience across a multitude of activities from composition, software design and performance to education, consultation, international touring, music production and project management. Their processes challenge and disrupt traditional paradigms in collective labour to prioritise vulnerability, deindividuation and a non-hierarchical structure, where existing ideas of self, technique and intersectionality can be interrogated and flourish in a shared creative environment. &so formed in 2021 and are based in regional Victoria.
Jo Lloyd (she/her) is a dance artist working with choreography as a social encounter. She has presented and performed her work in gallery spaces and theatres both nationally and internationally, in Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand. Her practice seeks to find a language that refuses the limits of history, culture, form and aesthetic. Lloyd choreographs the peculiarities of the ever-racing mind, which manifests in unconventional ways through the body. She forms choreographies out of distorted communications, diverse physical languages and interactions between the dancer and the viewer. Her recent major works include Bang Stop with musicians Jim White and Emmett Kelly, commissioned for the opening night of RISING at the State Library of Victoria; Handsome at The Substation; Death Role, commissioned for the Bundanon Art Museum; Archive the archive for the National Gallery of Australia exhibition KNOW MY NAME; OVERTURE (winner of three Green Room Awards) at Arts House for Melbourne Festival, 2019; and CUTOUT at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art with Eva Rothschild for Melbourne Festival, 2018.
Kay Campbell (she/her) is an editor who specialises in publications about art, architecture and culture. She also works internationally as a project manager and strategic advisor for cultural organisations. She was previously a director and curator in museums and galleries including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney; the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne; and Spike Island, Bristol.
